How can you have a baby and be really environmentally friendly? (without spending a fortune doing it). I'm not sure we have got the hang of it yet. We seem to generate so much rubbish since Sam was born. The nappies we buy are disposable and supposedly biodegradable but in our local 'recycling' place there is no specific place for them. They just go in with the general waste, which invariably means landfill. Then there's the baby products you buy, push chairs, toys etc. Everything is either made out of plastic or comes in about seven layers of polythene, cardboard or polystyrene packaging.....Only the cardboard has it's own recycling skip, so again the rest goes in landfill. I feel bad about it but what can you do? I'm really up for recycling as much stuff as possible but we have a limited number of options for where to put things.
Maybe I'm just being lazy but I can't think what else we should be doing....
